    I'm hung up between buying an hp or an asus laptop. help!?

    Q: I'm going to be a freshman in college next year (mechanical engineering) and I only have 650 to buy a laptop with. I am hung up between the HP dv4-1225dx, and the asus X83Vb-X2. I know both have their pros and cons, so I am turning to you all for input. Which laptop would be the better buy? I know that AMD processors tend to run hotter, which isn't great but i can live with. And i'm not too familiar with the asus brand (especially laptops). So I'd appreciate any and all input

    A: Skip the AMD and get an Intel processor... also, make sure you have an Nvidia graphics chip in the laptop, and not an ATI, or (the worst) Intel integrated graphics.

    You'll probably want to run some fairly demanding applications on your laptop, including a 3D CADD program like Pro-E... Intel processors and Nvidia graphics will give you the best results in terms of performance and reliability.
