Notebook Review Spec: Notebook Review Spec : ASUS X83Vm-X2

If you're in the furnish for a 14-inch laptop with enough processor power to operate well-grounded about anything then there are dozens of options to determine from. Unfortunately, if you be a 14-inch laptop with substantial graphics your options are few and far between. That's where ASUS comes to the freeing with their budget-kind X83Vm-X2 pad.

ASUS has habitually bundled obliging particular graphics in their laptops for as eat one's heart out as I can memorialize, and their force into the retail interval (specifically Nicest Buy) has unnatural their prices down and made them a very ravenous, very combative adversary.

Truly a retail story of the older ASUS N80 border, the X83Vm-X2 ditches the more muscular ASUS promise, Bluetooth, and Nvidia GeForce 9650M GT in favor of a slight tackier/more engaging (your mileage may change) chassis delineation and a ridiculously low bounty: $799 for the specs nominated below is the friendly of engage in you'd anticipate to be screamed at you in an infomercial.

    ASUS X83Vm-X2 Specifications:

    Windows Vista Shelter Reward (SP1, 64-bit) Intel Marrow 2 Duo P7450 (2.13GHz, 3MB L2 Supply, 1066MHz FSB) 14.1” TFT Widescreen open out with LED backlighting (1280x800) 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz System Honour Nvidia GeForce 9600M GS 1GB DDR2 Tribute 320GB 7200RPM SATA Seagate Momentus Industriously Motivate Dual Step CD/DVD Recordable with LightScribe 1.3 megapixel integrated webcam Intel WiFi 5100 (a/b/g/n) Wireless Load: 5.7 lbs. Dimensions: 14.3 x 10.4 x 1.4” Covenant: 1 year restrictive parts/labor 6-cubicle 11.1v 4800mAh mobile Retails at Crush Buy for $799

I'll be frank. Not making money the Bluetooth didn't cut to the quick that much (a USB adaptor can be had for $15 or less if you be sure where to research), and the GeForce 9650M GT ... is still vulgarly here. The 9600M GS beyond overclocks to 9650M GT speeds, and in truth even faster as I'll get to later.

Bod and Purpose The X83's construct is for the most part honestly established and well-thoughtfulness out. It's in truth one of the more provable ASUS units I've held, and the swivel predicament I've seen uniformly with older ASUS machines is for the most part fossilized story. I still would like them to be a bit firmer, though; I shouldn't be talented to pick up the item and parade the lid all the way start.

Which is better for college - Asus G50Vt-X5 or X83Vm-X2?

Q: The G50Vt-X5 is the better of the two systems, but I'll be using this for college and moderate gaming. I would like for it to be at least portable enough for me to keep with me on a fairly regular basis - back and forth to some classes and such, so the X83 would seem better. However, I also don't want to take a cut in performance, and I would like for the system to be as "future-proof" as possible for under $1,000 (I know that's basically impossible).

What would you guys recommend in this case?
