Mostly all wet reviews -- excellent laptop
I'm not chiefly one to post reviews, but I feel the need to since the majority of the existing reviews are unreservedly inaccurate.
BOTTOM LINE: This is an excellent laptop. HOWEVER, you're going to need to organization and install a fresh copy of Windows the moment that you unbox the merchandise. When I turned it on for the first time, it was an absolute snail. I immediately formatted, threw on a alternative copy of Windows 7 x64, and proceeded to do a victory dance around the line. It's smoking fast and runs just about anything and everything I throw at it. From just continuously use all the way through web development and a light game here and there -- this laptop won't disappoint you.
I was and still am pleasantly surprised. I'd never been bearing to buy an Acer in the past, but I sure am happy that I did this go around.

Solicitous machine - Very, Very Bad Support
The gismo came with a certificate for Windows 7, which arrived after a phone call questioning as to its whereabouts.
In the middle of the install which required the optical drive, the visual drive disappeared and the install was unable to continue.
Tech maintain promised to install Windows 7 if the machine was sent to them (at my expense - $50) but returned it with the old Vista reloaded.
I am using this gadget but cancelled the orders for the remaining 10 units and have told my populace to never purchase an ACER product again.
Ardour the build, but I've never felt not in control of a computer!
I've never purchased an acer computer before, only a scanner way back in the 90s. I've always been skilful with Windows computers and I fix all of my family's computer problems. This computer was the first time where I felt like I don't have govern over one.
Literally, right on the 31th day of the amazon return period, my grandfather (who owns the computer) told me that the computer would impulsively reboot about 10 seconds into loading the Windows desktop. I funked around with it for a while and resolved that a RAM stick went faulty. From what I've heard, RAM is the least likely piece of arms to break (and it's happened to me before on a Dell XPS. In that computer, two went bad at the same time!). So I ended up talking to outsourced industrial support which is essentially only good for arranging shipments to a repair forefront.
They sent me back the computer and replaced the 2GB stick. It's been working fine for now as I've installed a newfangled copy of Windows 7 and went through the device manager to install the right drivers from the acer website. For now there are two issues that make me fear another breakdown. First off, I don't have knowledge of what this is due to, but sometimes it seems that Windows doesn't see or recognize the CD drive, and if you were to put in a DVD when the drive isn't recognized, (and attempt a restart because the laptop won't take advantage of the DVD), Windows gets stuck in an endless shut down cycle. If you do make it to take out the DVD while its shutting down, the screen goes blank, but the computer doesn't restart and requires you to be true the power button. The second issue, which
is more ominous, is that one time after waking up the computer from standby, there was graphics sullying similar to this [...]
The video drivers are updated and when I had my memory issues I in reality had graphics corruption similar to this. Since the graphics corruption is here after the memory replacement, I'm distressed this computer will need to be sent back. Another thing you should know is that I can't do a BIOS update after installing Windows 7 because acer's update software is definite to Windows Vista. I spoke to technical support and they told me many customers have been moaning so they're working on something (supposedly).
Short summary of issues:
RAM failure
Broken DVD drive
Graphics corruption
BIOS update restricted to Vista
No peacefulness of mind...
On the other hand, when the computer works, I thoroughly enjoy working with it. It's got a complicated keyboard and it's light and cool. The contrast ratio is meh, but you could get pretty satisfactory skin tones with intel's graphics utility. If you do get this PC, switch to windows 7 because though the core of it is the same as vista, the unfortunate edges have been rounded and its a much better computing experience OS-wise.
Assumption this review helped!

It's all well-thought-of!...
Attraction it. After four months heavy usage - absolutely no complaints, thank God. The 8 hour mobile is a marvel. Good job, Acer.

I light of one's life mine (with Certino). VERY VERY QUIET! and COLD! and FAST!
Active great great notebook, really. This is a notebook for individuals who are looking for a fresh, affordable, sleek sophisticated looking design (if you ask me better than any other), promptness, and QUIETNESS! and it doesn't get much warmth, you can sit it on your lap for hours and you won't get 4 degree scorch.
This is a categorical notebook, I carry mine anywhere (it's very light) and its battery life is very long, even when I use climax performance + adobe Photoshop + Dreamweaver + Illustrator + internet + media punter + Pdf + folders + itunes, and it works perfectly. Really I don't suffer from any discharge problems.
I couldn't be more satisfied, just make sure you buy the one with Certino processor, not Pentium. It's a bit more overpriced, but well worth it.
And I have no idea why all the bad reviews... i thought this would have like 5+ reviews I theory the Amazon quality of it is so so.
Keen Laptop for the Money
I have been using this laptop for over a month and have been very impressed. I wanted the visual drive and the 14 inch model was the smallest model that still offered it. The laptop is very thin and enlightenment and is about the same size as the comparable Mac Book Pro. I debated on whether or not to make the jump to a Mac but unmistakable to give Windows 7 a try because all of my existing software is Windows based. So far, Windows 7 has been a good upgrade. I loved XP and it took roughly 5 minutes to learn how to sail the new OS and it runs smoothly. The battery life is incredible and I have no trouble making it through the travail day. I am also a grad student who carries this everywhere and it has exceeded all expectations. For the money you get a thin, illuminate laptop that runs cool and quiet all day.
Defeated, Defective,
I have had to reparation 2 of these due to broken or screen defect. the first had a broken part and the second had a 2 inch keep on the left of the screen with blurry pixels. I have seen the good reviews but have not had the yard goods experience.

2 months in and no complaints
Buying this offshoot, I didn't set my expectations sky-high, as I thought that the low price tag (compared to other computers with correspond to specifications) had to signify some hidden flaws; either that, or corner-cutting drama values. So I'm pleased to say that this computer has blown away these cautious expectations and has delivered an sample roughly equal to that of the 2008 Macbook that it's replacing.
The computer is everything as advertised: the battery-operated life is pretty great. With basic Internet use (web browsing and spare spontaneous video playing or the like), the battery lasts at least 8 hours. It lasts 6.5 hours with WiFi turned off and a DVD playing in the disc demand, and it lasts 5 hours on Netflix Instant Watch. Even though this computer is quite a bit heavier than my Acer netbook, it's almost, ironically, right-minded as portable, because I don't feel the need to bring the charger with me, like I do with the netbook.
The computer looks and feels eximious. It's thin and deceptively light, and it absolutely never overheats, which makes it very comfortable for widely spread use on your lap (a laptop that can actually be used on your lap--it's still somehow a high concept). The design is more workmanlike than enlightening (if my Macbook was a Porshce, this might be a Honda Accord) but the build is quality with aluminum making up the lid and chassis.
The specifications are somewhat nice--320 GB hard drive (when all's said and done, you get closer to about 290 GB), 4GB DDR3 remembrance. The 1.3 GHz single-core processor had me slightly worried at first (the Macbook had 2.1 GHz), but the computer handles all tasks and multitasking justifiable great--no significant lagging.
Other nice things I can comment on are the Windows 7 OS, the 3 well-spaced USB ports, the numbering of an HDMI port, the chiclet-style keyboard, and well-placed WiFI and declare buttons.
Overall, my experience with this Acer Timeline has been very satisfactory and I've had minimal to no complaints. I have in mind this machine can offer you an experience equal or surpassing other machines with higher cost tags and I highly recommend it!
I bought mine, by the way, from [...] for $645 including tax and 1-day shipping. I suppose this might save you maybe $20 depending on where you buy it, so just a tip.

interbred feelings
I wanted (and expected) to rapture my new acer timeline. After much research (and good reviews) I went for it. It was about time I get a new machine after a few years with a trustworthy no frills but good IBM T42. Ive been using my new toy for a week now, here my mains pros and cons:
My likes:
1.- Freestyle, battery, battery: like everybody says, it runs for about 6 1/2 hours mostly surfing the web, no more runs and hustle to plugin
2.- Good performace & speed: I knew this was not the fastest on the mmarket, plainly an improvement from my old machine, everything much faster (windows 7 loading still needs go like greased lightning improvement)
Cons:
1.- 1366x768 over this 14 inches wide protect: everything is too small, I dont wear or need glasses but my vision is not elated here...very annoying, I may change this machine soon if I dont get used to...
2.- speakers: Im not talking about music or pictures, havent even tried them, but even with skype volume I have to put volume to 100% fair-minded to get an ok sound. bad, bad...
For the rest, I waited for windows 7 and skipped vista, Im not thrilled with 7, its ok, will see (looks like vista though).
Not much else to naming , sure machine is thin and lighter than 14 inches, decently temperate, nice and quiet keyboar, ok touchpad (responsive but have seen crap-shooter ones). Ultimately, I have moments of love&hate with my new machine, I would possibly get aa different one if I had to choose again, if cons that I mentioned are too important to you go get another machine...

Intense little computer
I was looking for a laptop that could look-alike as a desktop replacement, yet be light and portable enough to carry around. I was impressed with the Acer netbooks, but I wanted a built-in CD/DVD contestant and writer. So far, I've been very happy with my purchase. VERY pleased with the battery life also.
I find Windows 7 to be much less irritating than Vista and an improvement over XP. I have not installed Ubuntu yet, that will be my next step.

It is not the fastest laptop I have had, but it has the rout freestyle living, very slight and thin, and can run the programs that I am intending to use it for without distress. The cover looks famed, the computer looks hypocritical and my daughter uses it for the whole day without needing a control. I bought it for her to use it at instil, and neither of us are gamers. The only negatives are the remote software that I proceeded to cut, and all the idiosyncrasies of the Vista OS. I am established it will be much excel after I download Windows 7 in October.
