Much outdo choice than CTL or Asus eEE
I was looking for a "budget" laptop for my 9-year old and was looking at Acer Aspire, the Asus eEE and the CTL pc. I from the word go bought the CTL but then reviewing the specs and seeing that you were really paying for the lose more durable CTL 2GO. I wound up returning the CTL after finding the Acer Extensa at best buy for 399. The specs of the Extensa makes it a tonier system in every respect. It is solidly built and seems to be able to put up with the demands of my kids.
The extensa is a full-sized system that blows in another place the performance of comparably-priced systems.
My only issue is that Acer does not provision drivers and therefore, I can not roll-back and install XP.
For the price and performance, if you are looking for a "budget netbook", take a look at the Extensa -- you get much more contraption for your money and you don't have to worry about it being obsolete in 6 months.

Fit is ok
Windows intel centre duo lifeis over 4 hours, almoost double the acer OEM normal pack. The fit of this freestyle isn't great, the tolerances to lock the battery in are a bit off for an acer extensia 4620. You have to mess a bit to manually slide the battery lock into position while holding the battery-operated all the way in. It's the same for both acer laptops we have that areslightly different models but use the same battery. That said I would still buy this freestyle again. Oh, and Ubuntu 9.xx doesn't appear to report battery life technically- it reports less life than there is until about1/2 left then seems to report it correctly but still gives you the 3-4 hours.

Hostile w/Acer TravelMate 2420
This mobile is listed as compatible with the Acer TravelMate 2420 series. It appears to fit the hiatus for the battery but will not completely snap into the battery slot. It may be just the inaccurate size, or it may be a quality control issue -- hard to certain. At any rate, this Christmas present will have to be returned.

heinous replacement battery
Bought this after the archetypal battery in my wife's laptop died. Slightly wider than starting battery but fit perfectly and well worth the slight extra width for the supplementary capacity! Chose ground shipping and it took exactly one week to journey cross-country from California to east coast...may want to get it promote day if you need it in a hurry....since I was not in a hurry the week was not a problem....works well, very in seventh heaven....wife is happy again! Will certainly look to them when the battery in MY laptop gives it up.
