    Refurbished Macbook pro
Bought this refurbished 15" Macbook and like all Apples it works significant. Looking at the dates the software was installed it went back to 2007 but it had one quarter and one minor scratch indicating it had been used before. Software was not the newest so had to buy Leopard snow
    Cold-blooded laptop, but over-priced
Mac is a tolerable OS with better user interface and integration than Windows. Better tech withstand than some of the larger sellers like Dell, Lenovo and HP. Smaller quarry from worm/virus attacks compared to Windows (this doesn't cook up d be reconciled Mac more secure, by the way). Better multimedia apps which are already part of the OS. Nice and hip objective. I can see why so many people gravitate toward Apple products these days. Personally, though, I can't justify the accessory cost for having a "cool" laptop. And those extra features I mentioned are not enough to swing many seasoned PC users away from Mac unless one has money to burn....so to apostrophize reserved.

I recently bought Dell Studio XPS16 with following configuration for my trouble: 15.4-in screen, 2.53 ghz w/ 1033 FSB, 4 GB memory, 500 gb in the red drive @7200 rpm, ATI graphic card with dedicated 512 mb honour. I paid about $1250 including tax (free shipping). My trouble needs a solid performance to run memory-guzzling applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD and Autodesk Ravit.

Alike resemble MacBook pro on Apple website (with smaller hard drive and integrated graphic humorist) comes out to about $1860 with tax (based on CA sales tax). One listed here on Amazon.com has poorer hardware specs than current one listed on Apple website, but is still selling for $1500. You can do the math. Impertinent design matters, but not for extra $250 to $600.

Apple makes good products and made mundane computing products into something fashionable. And it also knows population will pay premium to get it. I may decide to get Mac one day, but definitely not at its current pricing. It's simply overpriced for what it in fact delivers.
MacBook Pro - excellent computer in every way
I have owned one of these computers for two years now. As a evaluator that is working and stressing for an average of 17 hours a day, this computer is amazing.

It's without exception dependable, and even after two years, it doesnt feel like it has slowed down at all. The computer looks gigantic, performs great, and the constant updates and enthusiastic fan community exceptionally make sure that every aspect of the computer is great.

Before purchasing this computer, I had two main concerns, price and compatibility.

Compatibility - As an intensive user of Microsoft Office, I was interested with the fact that the Mac version seems very crippled. Turns out that with the proper software (I like VMWARE), you can instate a Windows system and run the windows version of Office. It's a great solution, and the computer will not ho-hum down much. As for all the other Mac programs, I love all of them. When I first started using my Mac, I couldnt get over how integrated everything is; it really feels like it's YOUR computer.

Tariff - at $1200 (the price this laptop is listed at), it's a bargain. If the laptop set someone back any more, I'd definitely still consider a PC because there are some pretty inexpensive computing alternates.

    Don't hold
The value may be a bit daunting for some but it's well worth it. Even so, Apple has recently announced price cuts on Macbooks, Macbook Pro's and Macbook Air. Also, the OSX 10.6 named "Snow Leopard" will only bring in existing OSX 10.5 owners $29 for the upgrade when it's available in Oct. 2009.
Very height quality all around. I can't say enough good things that haven't already been said. Go get it. You know you thirst it.
Last years Apple Macbook Pro computer
The computer that I purchased from you on Feb. 20th, 2009 is very delightful & the price was definitely what convinced me to buy the Macbook Pro over the regular Macbook. I did not need the more deluxe computer for my requirements, but figured for only $300 more, it was worth it. I was very surprised to find that the computer you sent me was last years working model & that is why the computer was cheaper. I did not read in your advertisement that the computer was last years model. I am disappointed & have had shtuk with warranty issues as Apple shows the computer being sold in 2008. It took three attempts to win over Apple that I purchased the computer in February 2009.

I would have definitely purchased the standard Macbook for $1,299.00 through my retail apple trust in & had the new model with everything I need & the convenience of saying I purchased the computer from them, which is always a plus when needing navy or help with troubleshooting or any problems.

I hope you will make this more evident in your advertisements in the expected so people will be sure of what they are getting.

    Sincerely,

    Wyndell Williams,

Gargantuan in OS X, but dismal support for XP, Vista and BootCamp
One year ago, sickened by dismal experiences with multiple PC manufacturers (Dell, Acer, among others) in terms of their vomit-provoking support for Windows (along with poor hardware reliability issues and very mean servicing of hardware), I took the plunge and decided I would buy a Mac. I basically have to have windows XP because it's required to interface with different hospital systems, but I thought if the Windows partition went down (a accepted guarantee with Windows XP at some point), at least I would have a reliable Mac system as a backup. I expected a far gambler experience, given the customer service ratings of Apple, which are better than any PC industrialist. Little did I know what I was getting into.

The XP partition blue screened on a equal-sided basis, from the first moment it was created. Microsoft of course makes it anything but unstrained to figure out why XP is bluescreening - part of their effort to duck and cover around the OS being a buggy litter. (Any misbehaving driver will bring it down.) And Apple's position on this consistently was that "this is not their problem." Adding slight to injury, I was charged for support by Microshaft (despite this partition being built from a new copy of Windows XP prompt). Well, what else is new - this is standard PC fare, and the primary reason why so many people are switching to Macs.

What was a news was to discover (after using a great little program called BlueScreenView that not even Microsoft was in the know of - that program should be installed on every PC) that the driver causing ALL the blue screens was Apple's proprietary mouse driver for the touchpad/mouse. Even more magnificent, I found out (after a lot of digging) that Apple apparently was aware of this all along (12+ months), but failed to reach users, and failed to correct the mouse driver issues for over one year, regardless of numerous complaints on the part of numerous boot Camp users about the mouse driver causing crucial problems. Apple stonewalled me for months on this issues, stating over and over that there were no problems with their drivers. What BS. Apple's locate on any difficulty under XP or Vista (and soon Windows 7) is that all Windows issues have nothing to do with them. One negligible problem with that . . . Apple was writing the XP driver software for the mouse that was causing all the problems. This kidney of "it's not my responsibility" attitude is something you expect from Microsoft, or perhaps from Dell, but you don't expect from Apple. It's been a absolute shock to experience this kind of corporate dodging and blame-shifting from Apple. Did they get lessons from Dell . . . . or may be our federal superintendence??

After roughly one year of difficulties (blue screens almost every day or every other day, bringing down the system and causing dying of work and endless grief along with two corrupted C drive partitions and hundreds of obsolete hours), I was able to find a fix for this, no thanks to Apple. The Mac side of course works just well, but I bought this system to use it primarily as a PC (with Mac OS X capability as a backup). If you are never going to use as a dual OS system, this is a keen computer and OS. However, I would strongly caution anyone against buying an Apple laptop or desktop system if they intend to have serious dual boot ability and intend to use some version of Windows more than 10% of the time. What you'll find is a total be without of support and a position of complete denial of responsibility by Apple for anything that happens under boot Settlement.

Given that this dual operating system capability has become one of Apple's strong selling cards and guilty for a significant fraction of sales, this position by Apple has to be seen as egregious, and fully unacceptable. My discouraged conclusion is that if you intend to use this system to operate any version of Windows, you have to be enlightened that you will be on your own. Microsoft regards all OS issues under BootCamp as Apple's problem, Apple regards them as moral Microsoft's problem, and in the final analysis, it's all going to be your problem. Take care of out!! (and unfortunately the virtual emulation of Windows under Parallels or VMWare is no key either - earlier versions were massively buggy!!)

I am confident that this review will be trashed by the Mac trusted (hence the poor ratings!) - attacking Apple is about like insulting someone's nurse in some people's eyes. Such loyalty is admirable, and speaks to some of Apple's strengths - which become this experience all the more puzzling. But for anyone that has struggled with an XP, Vista or (soon) Window 7 dividing wall on a MacBook, this experience should be a MAJOR caution. For those who will never cross into the unreliable and buggy wasteland of Windows on this munitions (a most fortunate majority of owners spared all the headaches of the PC world), this is possibly a five star system. But it is striking to see such disparity between Apple on these two sides of an issue (OS X support vs Windows abide), and it's really a shame. I had hoped for far better.
As benefit as it can get
Macbook Pros are indeed soothing, specially if its your first mac. All the small details, the neat reworking of features of other operating systems, the WAY elevate surpass performance/hardware ratio provided due to software optimizations and less mesial-men (software abstraction layers), everything.

The purchase in itself was great: quick shipping, marvellous customer service from the seller, product is as described. I just want I could have bought it with the 512MB of video memory version without having to go all the way up with other metal goods specifications, along with an extra $300+ in budget.
    Defeat COMPUTER
unambiguously if you have enough to buy this computer but feel like saving money and going for the Dell, DONT. Dells suck awfully and even though you are paying a lot more up front for the mac and you might not be used to it at first, in the long run you are saving money and its just a way outstrip computer. Dell screwed me over with tons of money and three computers that all became outdated very short and even crashed, I have yet to encounter a problem with my mac and I do alot of work with music on it! Joking the best investment I ever made, I will never consider buying windows again. The best part about this computer is the pertain to trackpad for the mouse, once you understand how to use all of its features, which is pretty quick, you will longing every computer had one. It makes web browsing and everything else so much easier!!! Go for it, this computer rocks the screen looks fabulous!!!! Apple MacBook Pro MC118LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop!
15 year PC con-vert to Mac. THIS original MacBook made me do it.
What can I say? Maybe it's my age attractive up with me. I am not sure. I know that I was just tired of all the mess there is in keeping a PC up to old and always running. Drivers, inter-application support, all of this is just something PC owners handle with and have gotten use to. I'm tired of it.

I found the iLife suite of applications a perfect retort for everything I needed. iPhoto, iMovie and of course iTunes (which I was already using on the PC along with my iPhone) are well-grounded a joy to use. iPhotos "places, faces and events" are super cool. And it's staggering how easy it is to get photos in and tagged. Everything about OSX just flows easily and never gets in my way. Everything works together smoothly and nothing competes with each other. i.e. WIndows Photo Viewer and Media Gamester both wanting to manange your pictures and videos DIFFERENTLY. Typical PC rejoin is "oh just download this other app and install this service and then run this codec pack and set this registry entrance and you're all set'" NO...I'M DONE WITH THAT. iLife and OSX WORK.

    Now to the hardware.

I liked the previous begetting MacBook Pro. It was missing some things though for the price. For one, it seemed to not really offer much in build and features I couldn't get elsewhere much cheaper in a PC laptop. This was not to say I would buy a PC but it meant I was looking at the MacMini or peradventure even the iMac. Something I didn't really want to do. I wanted a laptop. So I waited. Another year with the PC...then at length these new ones hit.

I was blown away by the features videos and when I got to handle one in human being...WOW. They are thinner yet completely SOLID. Picking one up or just smashing the keys and you experience like you're using something God would use. I can rest my fat palms on the faceplate without worry. The new treacherous backlit keys are MUCH easier to see and feel great! The buttonless allude to pad (the entire thing is a button) is amazing. It's like the iPhone except with the annex of a button. Which is perfect. Be nice if the iPhone could get this feature some how. The gesture strut is spot on. It's the first time I've ever used a touchpad and NOT wanted to get a mouse instantly. You can in point of fact use it all day and it's transparent. It operates so smoothly. FINALLY.

The sound from the speakers is much improved. iTunes in the out of the limelight or jamming out loud is very clear and full sounding for a laptop speaker. Nothing sounds sour or crushed. They are laptop speakers mind you, but for that, they are the best I've heard.

The splash is very clear and off angle is nice. I find the contrast to be pretty good and the 3D portrayal to be awesome. (and should be with a 9600). The auto switching to the slower power economizing 9400 is a pretty neat trick too. I play World of Warcraft and EVE-Online and they both run totally smoothly. When running on battery there is a performance hit with the cycled down cpu and slower 9400, but you'd believe that. I also tried Team Fortress 2 via "Crossover for Games" and it ran very smoothly. With only a several of small display glitches.

My only real complaint is the lack of USB ports, it has two. I exceptionally wish it had TWO more. My model has the express slot instead of the mini postcard slot. I find you have many more expansion options with the express slot. Including putting in your own mini likely reader. So why limit your options?

Finally, Amazon's price was $200 cheaper than Apple's. I got no tax and lavish 2 day shipping on top of that, pretty sweet.
    Wonderful computer, but with scratches
As the term says, the computer is great, it is much more than I expected considering I moved from PC platform to Mac. Every subject just works fine, no bugs, no hassles. This Macbook Pro is a 2008 ideal, but I found it very powerful and fast compared to my Vaio FZ-180e.

The only annoyance had nothing to do with the laptop beginning or functionality: it came with scratches on the right side of the lid. Also, when I installed aditional homage I found a lot of dust inside it, which made me wonder that this notebook could have been in some showcase at Datavision Computer Video trust in in NY, from where it was delivered.

I've tried to contact the store by e-mail through the proper waiting at Amazon's site, but received no word about it. And since I'm not in the US right now, I just got stuck with a new computer that looks old. So, the proper I rate it no so good is due to its handling by the store, not because the quality of the equipment which I ponder it is superb.

    Not 85W! It's a 60W adaptor
The adapter comes with a label that says it's 85W, but when you go into the system profiler you will see that it's only giving you 60W.
    gets the job done/AFFORDABLE
after a lot of thrilling around my original charger broke and i was sick at the thought of buying a replacement from the apple pile up for 80 dollars!! then i happened to come across this one on amazon, read the reviews and obvious it was definitely worth a try to save 40 dollars, in the end just as passable as the original looks great works great saves you specie i definitely recommend this charger for anyone in need of a charger that is inexpensive, for their overpriced macbook btw works with any size macbook pro.I have a 15 inch macbook pro and this charger is very compatible also works on my friends 13 inch. Favourably RECOMMENDED!!
I got what Amazon described and it works bright
I was doubtful of what would happen when I one-clicked the order button for this item--some reviewers have received a cubed adapter that resembles the MacBook Pro adapter shipped by Apple (minus the Apple logo), others have received varying combinations of parts.

I received absolutely what was pictured next to the product description at the time I ordered: a long, hoary, rectangular brick with a MagSage connector attached at one end, and a female socket to consent to the AC cord at the other end. The brick contains a switching power supply (AC, ~120-240V), which I can certify works just fine on both 120VAC and 240VAC as I just returned from a essential European trip. The black label contains all appropriate regulatory endorsements with the debarment of Underwriters' Labs (UL).

The adapter functions quite similarly to the OEM Apple adapter. The MagSafe connector appears to be an Apple-meant pigtail. Some reviewers said that the light on the connector remains on when it is unplugged from the MB. It appears that a capacitor is being discharged in the power supplying, as the light eventually goes off. (The same behavior is apparent when the power stockpiling itself is unplugged from the AC source.)

This is a fine replacement product for the Apple adapter, at about partially the price. It is marginally less convenient for traveling, as the MagSafe cord does not self-trust in on the adapter as it would on the Apple version. But that is a minor quibble, and after three weeks of hard use I can advocate it.
60 watt adapter with an 85 watt portray
Sounds like there are multiple versions of this issue floating around, but mine was a generic brick-style adapter with an 85-watt dub. To me, that was no big deal if it worked fine.

However, when connected and then queried via System Profiler in my new MacBook Pro 15" (nucleus i5 series), it shows 60 watts, which is not sufficient to power this laptop. The labels and similes are not accurate.
The parts maker has very awful quality control...
I purchased one of these adapters about a month ago as a replacement for my infringed magsafe adapter from my 17" macbook pro. While the adapter is billed as an 85W model, and also has 85W printed on the part itself, it will only yield 60W (sufficient for a smaller MBP, but not 17" model) I contacted the seller and they instantly exchanged the part for a new one, and paid for return shipping for the defective part. Much to my dismay, the replacement also shows that it is an 85W maquette, but still has the exact same issue. I am now asking the seller for a complete refund rather than another exchange.
