Switched from Windows to Mac, Sweetie the Compact Pro
I was a windows buyer all my life, never used a mac, thought it would be complicated and difficult. My husband has always toughened mac, and so when I needed a new computer we got a mac because we work from home and it's much easier when we both need to use the same files or programs, it's justifiable more efficient that way.
I had originally got a Macbook Air 13" because we are traveling a lot and wanted a lightweight computer. But after using it for 2 weeks I was so resentful and frustrated at it that I wanted to sell it. So we did. It was SO slow. This was brand new and it could not even load youtube videos, even on a staunch internet you could not watch them. It would freeze when having 3 or 4 browsers open, no other programs. Fail using Skype simultaneously while having any other program open, it's common to bogg down the computer. Also you cannot play any games on it because the graphic processor is so slow it's all choppy and is tuneful much pointless. Having no CD rom made it impossible to use programs that need the CD to run. Not buying an superficial CD drive to travel with, that's ridiculous.
So back to the 13" pro. I really like that I can do everything I fundamental on it. It's much faster than the Air, I can watch youtube, use skype, play games, run brief conversation or pages and multiple browsers at the same time. I thought 13" would deem too small for me, like a mini computer. But after going from a 17" beast to a 13" laptop I can recite say you that I enjoy having this size as it does not crush me when I'm working on my lap. It gets hot yes, so don't sit it on your lap, but I support my knees up and it rests on my stomach and legs so it gets air and doesn't over waken. The sound is not too bad on it either, the Air had speakers that were a joke, so quiet you could not play a movie and understand it. The 13" pro is not too heavy either and fits in small backpacks which is great for traveling.
I'm unquestionably glad I have mine. It makes my husbands 15" feel like a ogre in comparison, it's a lot heavier. So for portability go for the 13" pro.
Uncomplicated... as adverticed
There are no more words, literally as they adverticed it. This is an awesome computer.

I positively want to love it...
I truly want to love my 13" Macbook Pro. I really do. However, the glare that I am experiencing is intolerable, noticeably when the Web page has a black background. I tried a matte anti-dirty screen protector but to no avail. The protector removed the glare but caused pure backgrounds to be extremely pixelated, so much so that my eye strain was even worse than without the screen patroness. I am not against all glossy screens...I love my Macbook Air's screen. However, the extra layer of beaker on the Macbook Pro causes these horrible reflections that can not be mitigated by adjusting the screen corner. Furthermore, even at the brightest setting, I see both the keyboard and my hands reflected in the jet-black, glass covered bezel. Perfect solution would be to use museum crystal or no glass at all with a black, non-reflective bezel. When Apple offers that, I will buy it. Until then I'll keep using my Cube and 20" matte LCD advertise for my desktop (and hope it doesn't die) and the Macbook Air for my laptop.
Disposition it!
There is nothing to do; Mac is the greatest, easiest and more attractive computer around; I keep the old one for the car instead of the Itouch; the perfect companion in the car riders tactics at the middle school when my little one is coming out of school. The new one for my daughters homework. Smashing laptop, fast, reliable, now battery lasting longer, another extra for Mac.
Very permissible
Still on the wisdom process after switching from Windows to MAC OS... But I find it very good. Specially for someone who works with graphics and test.

If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have bought it.
I bought this orator for a friend who uses a mac book to watch movies.
Pluses
- This fixation produces a lot of sound. It is much better than the existing speaker in her laptop.
- Only one radio. You don't need a separate cable for sound and power.
Minuses
- It's too incomprehensible for the USB port. It bends the plastic around port. What the picture of the product doesn't show you is a budget-priced little piece of plastic that attaches to the arm to prop the speaker up. This works if you have your laptop on a steppe, but not in your lap.
- The bendy arm doesn't stay in place very well. It's hard to get it to point where you indigence.
- Every time you plug it in, you have to go into the computer settings and tell the computer to use it. It's not like a pair of principal phones where you plug them in and the sound automatically comes out. If accidentally comes unplugged the computer intuitively switches back to the internal speakers.
- Over-priced.
WONDERFUL Merchandise
Sounds terrific, uniquely considering how inexpensive it was. Plug it into a usb port, go to sound in System Preferences, click on usb keynoter and its done. Does not have the lack of tone one would expect with a single speaker. Comes with a moving bag. Perfect item to take on vacation, business trips, or listening to laptop downloads in bed. No transducers to shambles with. Delivered rapidly in excellent condition. Will buy from this company again

Little Speaker with Excellent Sound for its Size
I bought this spieler for my mac and I've found that it performs very well for its size. It is as advertised - the bass sounds very good, not tawdry at all. It is very compact and I like that it comes with its own carry bag. This will prevent it from getting scratched. The nefarious color will go very well with the newer Apple computers.
The only drawback is that it does not have a volume suppress on the unit itself. However, I found that I can adjust the sound well using the volume controls on my mac, so this positively wasn't such a problem. The computer did not recognize the speaker when I plugged it in, so I had to go to System Preferences, first-rate Sound and then switch it from Built-in Speakers to USB Speaker. This is relatively animated and easy. Don't forget to switch back to Built-in Speakers when you unplug the module.

Planet Gizmo » Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A 13.3
Apple’s MacBook stroke of laptops has a burly improvement of the aluminum shop, LED great binoculars, and stocky multi-initiate pads. Brand-new updates have offered more improvements and adjustments some of which are very well served.
The 13-inch aluminum essentials harmonious Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL / A an fully ready pad. It has been suggested to become au fait with the household of MacBook Pro. For the implementation of the move the Pro 13-inch on the insufficiency of FireWire mooring and an SD file card place which makes things are much simpler. Backlit keyboard and a non-removable battery-operated like the Air and MacBook Pro 17-inch. But Apple promises even happier with the life story of the battery-operated to an convalescence of 40%.
Specifications of the Embassy of Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL / A provides 2.26GHz Intel Sum 2 Duo with 2 GB of a value of 1066 MHz DDR2 RAM. The difficult ride is a guideline 160 GB uninterrupted at 5400 rpm, while the NVIDIA MCP79 chipset is. Graphics are integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M a creditable statue. The laptop is Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard operating system. While the Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL / A weighs 4.5 pounds without power this thin and gentle laptop is more or less the same proportions as the other 13.3 inch laptops lighter and thinner than the normal permutation non-Apple. The sketch out and edifice of the system is the same as last year’s dummy with the box the range of an aluminum stump. It’s easier and more unwavering than faster versions in workable 13-inch MacBook.
The new Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL / A also maintains the same track oversize pad, where a reduction of the tot up arrondissement of a handle but you can also click on a laptop once the way out in the Preferences menu. The two, three or four fingers of Multi-Cover gestures are also handy. Once you are a new alight pad is finical.
new 2.26GHz Macbook Pro or refurbished 2.4GHz Macbook aluminum?
Q: I am in the market for my first Apple. I have been doing a little research and have narrowed my choices down to those two. My question is what are the differences between the two? The refurbished one is $1099 and the new Pro is $1199 but I would probably upgrade to 250gb hard drive.
Here are the links to the ones I'm interested in:
refurb Macbook: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB467LL/A?mco=MjE0NDk5Mw
new Pro: http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MB990LL/A?mco=NjcxMTQ2Mw
Also, if I go with the new Pro, would upgrading from 2GB to 4GB of memory be wise? I would be using it daily for internet, music, etc. no games. The new Pro says it has a 7hr battery life which is a huge plus for me, does anyone know what the Macbook aluminum battery life is? Any other differences that you notice between the two would greatly help me out. Thanks.
A: Refurb - that is the last generation logic board. It has a maximum capacity of 4GB of RAM. This should still be viable for some years to come (especially when Snow Leopard comes out and increases the efficiency of OS X).
New - this is the new logic board. It has a maxmium capacity of 8GB of RAM. This means more long term upgradability than any of the previous generations of Intel laptops by Apple.
-----
Refurb - actually goes through more tests than a new laptop; you are more likely to get a "dud" with a new laptop versus a refurb one from Apple (weird I know).
New - while in theory it has a greater risk of being a dud, that risk is still pretty low. And if anything is weird, you've 100% covered for a year anyway, so they'll deal with the problem for you.
-----
Refurb - this is what's called the "removable" battery. It has a realistic charge of about 3-4 hours when new and a lifespan of 2-3 years.
New - this is what's called the "built-in" battery. It has a realistic charge of more like 5-6 hours when new and a lifespan of 3-4 years.
----
So to me its the RAM and battery that are the attractive selling points of the new generation laptop. I like the fact that you can upgrade it up to 8GB. With the way Apple makes its OS, that would do you well for quite some time to come. Though the 4GB would likely last you a really long time considering your described uses. I think you'd be ready to get a new Mac by the time 4GB of RAM in a Mac becomes "out dated."
Oh and the MacBook Pro has a Firewire 800 port. I don't believe the MacBook has anything but USB. This may or may not be of value to you. Its handy to have if you need to hook up a camcorder device. Its even handier to have for external hard drives. If you buy an external drive, and buy one with a Firewire 800 port, then with the MacBook Pro you would get essentially the fastest throughput speeds you could get on a Mac.

Which ever one you do go with, some handy, free, applications to download right away,
"Burn" - its an application for burning CDs and DVDs. Its a lot more robust than the built in "burn folder" of OS X. If you want a pay option that is even more robust, get Toast Titanium.
FireFox - while Apple's Safari is a really great browser, not all web developers bother checking their sites for Safari compatibility. So depending on what sites you visit, you may or may not hit some hiccups along the way. So its good to keep a second browser handy for such occasions.
VLC - Quicktime plays back a lot of movies, but VLC can playback more. Its a great multimedia playback device.
Open Office - If you're going to buy Microsoft Office, then great, you're set. But if you want an open source (free) office suite, consider this one. It can read/write Microsoft Office files. There is a solid user base behind it, so you can get help with it.
Gimp - need to do some photo editing? Here's a free alternative to Photoshop.
Flip 4 Mac - just get the free install from them, this will allow you to watch WMV files on your Mac.
Senuti - transfer songs from your iPod onto your Mac.
