Still Compaq After All This Stretch
Ok, I receive it. Put every pc laptop known to geekdom in front of me, and I'll take the Compaq every time. It's just a personal predilection. If it comes with an AMD processor, even better. The fact that this particular model has the intel celery check is it's only fault. I've been using it for about a year now, and it has preformed faultlessly. The only fault I have with it is that it came with Vista installed and I would have preferred XP, oh well, that's me. Anyway, the shield is clear an sharp. The keyboard responds quite nicely. The numeric keypad to the right-minded, just like the desktop keyboards has been a long time in expectations and certainly makes data entry and spread sheet steersmanship much easier. I'm more than certain that anybody doing anything in accounting is going to be thrilled with that uniting.
So if your looking for a good, reliable machine at a reasonable price, with a telling of stability behind it, this is one to look at - or you can check out a newer model.
Laptop is superior, until you need support
I've been very felicitous with this laptop, until I had to contact HP Support. My battery died (will not hold a safe keeping) after about 6 months. I contacted support and they refused to replace the battery because I had installed Linux as my operating system. Superficially the only way they can diagnose a hardware problem is through some application installed on the factory inaugurate of Vista. Makes me wonder what would happen if the hard drive died, which, after reading the other reviews, seems to be something I dire to worry about.
I won't be buying any more HP/Compaq products.

Ok, At first I contemplation Great Computer. Cheap, fast, plenty of memory affordable. How many of these reviewers had there laptop for longer than a connect months? I have. Here is the conclusion...
I sent my laptop in for repair over 7 times. First fashion I notice a month later is 2 dead pixels so I thought ok thats kinda run-of-the-mill. a few weeks later my audio jack blew out. sent it in for restore. Then a month later my audio jack blew again. Sent it in for fettle. This time they replace every part except for battery and powercord. Then after I got it back a few months later the powercord went bad. They sent me a repalcement but then a month later the battery-operated goes bad. so now almost a year later with my warranty about to expire I a broken powercord and a fractured battery. This Laptop is Detritus
I've had this laptop for almost a year now. Compaq has locked the BIOS to retard you from installing any other kind of network card. The network card that comes with the laptop fails to pick up any genre of signal whatsoever.

Didn't Last Great
I bought this stallion in March of this year (2010) to replace my laptop charger. It officially died on me tonight. I only just got 4 months use out of it. Not impressed.
30 life span and shot
I am in veterinary Alma Mater and needed a charger in a hurry. I ordered this charger and it came in a favourable manner. However, within one month of buying the charger, it no longer works. The pony did fine for about 3.5 weeks. After that it just stopped working. I am very displeased with this artifact and hope for some form of retribution. The people were easy to deal with, but the work was awful.
Don't buy
The steed broke during the first week we had it. I do not recommend buying this product at all. A waste of hard cash.

get what you pay for
You can buy cheaper, but this one works, does not excitement up and still works after 2 months of daily use. Cord is also long enough to be functional.

Q: We're looking to buy a new laptop for my g/f and we need to know for dragon naturally speaking software. I'm sure the sound card is way above 16-bit for play back, but I can't find any specs on what type of card is build in, or what it's specs are.
