Made my laptop handy again The initial battery for my Dell D830 gave up the ghost after 2-1/2 years of use. I was thoroughly surprised to find a compatible replacement battery on Amazon for a fraction of the evaluation that Dell was charging for their product. I calculated that if I could get even a few months of use out of it, then the battery would pay for itself in savings. After three months of use, the mobile is still going strong and I'm very happy with how it performs. Prior to purchasing this, my laptop would last less than 20 minutes before reporting a low battery-operated warning. Today I get at least three hours of typical use on a charge before I have to plug back in. I don't over I've even seen the low battery warning more than once since I installed it. The D830 is known to be easier on batteries than the D820 that preceded it. I confidence in the latter draws more current and/or runs hotter than even the original Dell batteries were expected for, causing a lot of users to be very unhappy when their batteries failed after less than a year. My helpmeet's D820 went through three original (expensive) Dell batteries in the time that it took my D830 to bite through my first one. In short, if you have a D820, then you may save yourself a lot of frustration by retiring it in favor of a bigger laptop. There seem to be several suppliers of this product and not all may be shipping the same quality product. Mine shipped out from BrilliantStore and the encounter so far has been terrific. Major Replacement Battery for Latitude D820 So Far I received this battery-operated about 2 and a half weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with it. The fit is perfect for the Dell Latitude D820 to start with. I've had my laptop for over 3 years and the mobile that came with it has been pretty much useless for the past year and a half. I use it heavily between skilled in and a docking station at work so it's hard for me to fault the original battery-operated. Followed the instructions that were provided with the battery, charging it fully overnight the first 3 times. Whether or not it makes a leftovers? I don't know, but I figured I would give it a shot. I went from getting about 30 minutes of laptop use to over 3 and a partly hours on a balanced scheme with the screen brightness turned down. I have several programs ceaseless at once and still get the great battery life. I will revisit this review in a a few months to update how the mobile has held up. Overall, I am very happy with this battery. So far so sympathetic! The battery-operated fits perfectly in my Dell Precision M65. It runs my notebook for about 3 hours before being completely drained. Make sure to read the instructions. You have to charge it overnight with the pad powered off before using. Impoverished life Purchased the mobile in October 2009 - fit perfectly and ran well. The battery life is well-disposed, the performance has been robust and responsive. The only thing I find missing on this computer is a webcam. The speakers are a no tinny, but with headphones the sound is great. I like the nice portly screen too! Enjoying my Latitude D820! Eh, it's OK. This laptop was not advantage the money when it was new. This laptop replaced my old dell latitude C640. It's an OK laptop that does the job. But I would agree with the other reviewed that "it should run faster" looking at the specs. In comparing the specs vs. my old C640, it's got double the memory, doubled the CPU, double the harddrive, etc... yet I only see a marginal performance improvement. I have run windows XP, Vista, and wasn't very impressed with the performance of either of them. I'm running 2003 server and it seems to be better now. There is a lot of harddrive bawling. There is also a problem with feedback on my telephone when I get close to the computer... presumably due to a damaged ground somewhere on the laptop. It's also a bit heavier then I would like. On the pro side, the screen is nice and big, the keyboard is big and satisfactory, has 4 USB ports, and came with 2 batteries (one of which has already died). Eager machine for certain things. This machine is uncommonly durable. Despite what others might say about it running apps slowly, they don't know how to undertake their OS. This machine can run any application, including Adobe Creative Suite apps well. Persuaded, it's not the fastest thing on the market, but it's a 2.0 dual core CPU, it's a big deal, and for any student/office person trying to save coins while still getting things done, it's a great buy. The hardware holds up great, and don't let others berate you it's slow because of how they treat their OS. Not very worthy. I got one of these laptops from industry and it is not good laptop. It runs the internet and email apps ok but if you try using MS mediation 2003 or virtual machine for the control systems apps it is delayed and very under performing. The laptop itself is very rugged and durable, but again a newer laptop match XP should perform alot better. The hard drives in these laptops are not very good either, mine began flaw within 4 months and the diskeeper application sucks and scans and rescans and re-defrags the system for no sensible. The trackpad is what makes me totally hate this laptop. The keyboard is prominent and comfortable similar to an Inspirion that works. The trackpad zones out everytime I use this lapotp. It honest stops working and my cursor stops moving like im not even sad the trackpad. So then I switch to the nub in the middle of the keyboard to try and do my work and it too stops working. The trackpad itself sucks, is unresponcive, and very recently doesen't work. The screen is ok but when light hits it you wont be masterful to see it which for an industrial laptop is just stupid. Overall this would not be a laptop I would mention favourably for home or work use. Rugged yes, performance no. Thanks A: It would appear that dell removed the svideo out because of the D series being a business class laptop. You should have a connector on the laptop that looks like svideo however it doesnt carry the signal but it should output a composite image. You may want to research vga to component as both composite and svideo are very low bandwidth outputs.
