This is the worst laptop I have ever owned.
I put up with my first Dell Latitude D600 for about a year before once just throwing it away. After maybe 3 months of owning it, at least 6 of the keys knock off, the battery stopped working, and I was not able to pick up wireless connections. It died three times during the duration period that I owned it, and after replacing the hard drive twice and the fan once, I realized that it only just wasn't worth trying to "fix" anymore.
Unfortunately, I received the extort same model of laptop as a gift after my previous one died. This confirmed my axiom that this model is an absolute piece of crap. I have owned it less than a year, and the freestyle does not work, the power cord falls out all the time, a key has fallen off, and I have already had it sent off twice for repairs on the perplexing drive. Recently, it physically fell into two pieces; the screen lawful detached from the keyboard and now it's utterly useless and will not turn on.
I handled these laptops responsibly. They always sat either on my escritoire or on my lap and I never took them out of my home. I used them mostly for surfing the net and photo-editing, almost never downloaded anything, and did not clog it up with loads of pictures and music (it could only handle about 10 folders of music before being unambiguously full anyway). If you want a laptop that falls apart and constantly breaks from ordinary use, then this is the one for you.

LOTS OF PROBLEMS>>>LOTS
First off, very awful packing in that it was in a flimsy box...with...crumpled up brown paper.
Second, seller restores all his help hand computers with Windows xp service pack 3. Well that is marked, seriously great. The down side is...he ships it with a windows xp service pack 2 retaking disk! Leads to a lot of potential problems. Basically as soon as you get the computer, hand back it with your XP SP2 cd. The thing is!!!! First download all your drivers online to a thumb motivate or cd if possible, or else...your done for. Don;t know what I am talking about? Then never buy one of these!
Used computers in general are not for the computer trainee to intermediate, a serious background in knowledge is needed for some of the subtler things that advance up unexpected. I'm talking about more than just inserting a disk. Especially if you are prospering to add office, or other software, or even have to type in a foreign language. Take my advice, don;t buy from him UNLESS YOU ARE VERY very very passable with computers and troubleshooting them. Serious, this is not an angry review to "ruin" him, it's the facts and moral advice, I hope you will take and avoid lost time and money, most importantly highlight.
Now thirdly...cd drive worked the first evening I got the computer. Next day, running my software peachy and...*chirp* *slow scan* *chirp* *dead subdue....ok the drive went dead!!! So...I go and buy an external dvd/cd mean, another $60. What was a seemingly fair deal turned out to just be, "you get what you pay for". A dollop suspect that the drive works for a few hours and then dies. Not making accusations that he is a rascal, however he does have to make a profit somewhere. Sold me junk, I could have got off a popular selling site for about $30, I thought Amazon would have some integrity as it is sold through them...hypothesize I was wrong. Buyer beware.
Overall would rather buy from someone else, however, with some tweaking and a lot of know how, this being the girl Friday day, I think I have things worked out. All this seller does is buy used laptops off the internet, set them up with an SP3 back-up disk he has and deliver them out to you...for better or for worse....

The Worst Traffic yet
This was the worst computer I have ever boughten! I couldn't configurate it on the day I bought it. It was SO Infirm. The DVD drive was broken and looked like it had been glued together. If you tilted it the actuate would fall out! The screen cracked the next day when I sat it "gently" on the table. Im so displeased with this computer. I'm not even flourishing to return it, for fear that someone will glue it together and sell it to another innocent consumer. Very insolvent quality. I might report this site to YahooNews so that the world can know that it is a SCAM. You can keep your miserable $200, Amazon.
Flagrant Product for the Price
This was a spacious laptop for the price. Super fast shipping! It was shipped the same day I bought it! I was a bit disillusioned because there was not a restore CD like was listed in the title but other than that I would recommend this seller!
Big replacement value
I ordered this battery-operated instead of a namebrand "Dell" battery, since the cost was significantly less. I have been very happy with it, so far.
Dell laptop freestyle
I purchased this mobile as part of my attempt to refurbish a 2005 Dell Latitude D600. This was a third party battery but it worked reasonable fine and in fact was already at 50% capacity right out of the box. So far so good...

Bond
I charged, and discharged the freestyle ,by the enclosed directions, It held a charge for about 5 more times, but, now, it will not charge,I replaced it with my old freestyle, and it charges. Ifeel that the battery is good, but might have bad contacts, I called, and was told bond is still good. I will try it for one more week. Hopefully they will respect my warranty, because I am trying to finish out sure there is no mistakes on my part. For the price, and service, I would recomend this product, ifthey stannd behind it

Low Genius After-market Battery
I followed the recommended allegation/discharge cycle instructions, but the battery discharges at a faster upbraid than is indicated for its capacity. Good price, slightly poor value. If I had the moneyed to spend on a higher priced battery for my Inspiron 600m, I would have looked elsewhere.

Laptop Mobile for Dell Inspiron 500M, 600M Series, Latitude D500, D505, D510, D600, D610 Series, Literalism M20, WorkStation M20
Unserviceable. I also purchased a power supply which is equally useless. Vendor does not return. I will not purchase from them again.
Loyal product!

Died in five months!
Find another one! I use the computer only a few hours a day and it at best died after five months. There has got to be a better one!
Appropriate for 3 months, then died
I received this laptop power adapter in a propitious manner from the seller, Westronics. It worked just fine when we got it (except the line was a little short), but it completely died after three months. I wrote the seller about it and they never replied. Unluckily, by then, it was too late to rate them down on the order. Perhaps the price was too good to last, but I'd rather they charge more and present a product that lasts at least a year. It is difficult to know which product to not cricket c out of commission with so many adapter options.

Passable replacement AC adapter
I purchased a replacement AC adapter for my Dell laptop computer from Dell back in September of '09; the adapter shorted out and ruined after only nine months of use. I paid over $100.00 (including shipping) for what was obviously a ailing manufactured item. So far after two months my current AC adapter is working even-handed fine. My concern was whether or not it would be able to charge the battery of my computer; it accomplishes this reprehend with no problems, all for less than $30.00 including shipping.

This has been one of the most suitable purchases I've made in some time. It cost a mere fraction of what I thought I would have to pay and I received it in only a weeks without surcease! I usually have to wait from 4 to 8 weeks when I order anything online. I was really surprised. I am a very satisfied bloke.

Tight-fisted but short
Its meticulous and cheap, but the cord is pretty short making it a pain for me because I have to have my laptop plugged in all the duration because this Dell is old.
Jettison
Don't perplex with this! Spend the extra money and buy a more heavy-duty replacement. Within 2 months where the twine attached to the transformer started to come apart. "Repaired" with electrical belt but before I knew I had bare wires. I have since ordered what I hope will be a better trait replacement.
Meet replacement, but too short
This rope was a suitable replacement for the original but was a couple feet shorter and to be sure less durable. I would only recommend if you don't plan on moving your computer around a lot.

What is the best linux version for a DELL Latitude D600 laptop?
Q: I have a DELL Latitude D600 that was passed down to me by my older sister. The XP on it has some bad malware and is generally corrupted. What would be the best Linux version to either replace it , or do a dual boot?
It is about 5 years old.
A: Almost any distro will install with a dual boot option. Which distro you install depends on how much horsepower you have and what you want to do.
Since there are over 300 distros, and a few CDRWs are pretty cheap, download a few that sound interesting and try them. DSL (Damn Small Linux) or PCLinuxOS minime might be good for a smaller computer, but Ubuntu might run well too.
They're free - take 2. Or 20. Have fun. That's what it's all about. (Until you decide to earn your living doing what you do for fun.)
