Would this Gateway laptop (M-6851) be good enough for a teenage boy gamer?

Q: I'm going to be getting my nephew a laptop for his graduation, I saw this Gateway M-6851 laptop on sale for only 900 bucks and I think it is pretty decent, but I don't know alot about computers. Here are the specifications:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 512MB GDDR3 Memory
250 GB HDD 5400 RPM

I don't know what any of that means, but he says he wants to be able to play current games, I think he said Bio Shock, Crisis, Conan of Age, and some other games I can't remember. Will this laptop be good enough to run those games and how well? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Oh and I should add the laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, if that makes any difference. Thanks!
I'm not really asking for a better suggestion, I'm just asking if this particular laptop would run those games, and if so how well.
OK, my nephew just told me that a ATI Radeon HD 2600 with GDDR3 VRAM is actually better than a Nvidia 8600M GT with DDR2. Which is what?
