DONT BUY A LAPTOP FROM HP
Here is my judgement with HP:
May 2009 - Bought Laptop from HP website - List Price - $2400
Sept. 2009 - Wall went blank - sent it in for repairs and motherboard and RAM replaced
Jan. 2010 - Computer began loosing power randomly - sent it in for repairs - motherboard replaced again
Jan. 2010 - Received computer back from repairs and computer was still loosing power - sent it in for repairs - power string replaced
Feb. 2010 - Received computer back again from repairs and computer is still loosing power - currently sent in for the FOURTH dated for repairs.
Conclusion: Don't buy an HP. If you do, don't rely their warranty. The only thing the warranty does, is give them the upright to endlessly send your computer in for repairs even if the problem is never fixed. Their warranty says "its up to their disposition to replace or refund a product". Apparently they dont have the sound judgement to make the right decision and replace a defective product after repeated mend attempts.
Rolls Royce of movable workstations
I utilized one of these in my school - very impressive. The NotebookReview published an extensive and very accurate assessment of this computer. Here is their verdict: "The HP EliteBook 8730w is probably the most balanced workstation-arrange 17" notebook we've seen. This notebook is designed more for desktop replacement than it is for mobility, but the 8730w is thinner and lighter than other 17-inch workstations. That said, HP didn't lose durability when making this machine thinner and lighter.
In terms of inclusive value, the EliteBook 8730w strikes an excellent balance between reward and performance. If you just need a basic configuration for your office then the starting premium of $1,699 is pretty impressive ... particularly since a ThinkPad W700 expenditure several hundred dollars more and is bigger and heavier to boot. Of course, for those professionals who needfulness to absolute best performance, the 8730w is available in configurations costing more than $4,000 ... so there's something for almost every budget.
Bottom edging, if you're looking for a 17-inch mobile workstation notebook the HP EliteBook 8730w as likely as not belongs at the top of your list."
