Don't Angel It!
Based on the Tag NEW, not previously owned, or refurbished HP Pavilion DV9700 that I bought, I would not buy a refurbished one. I have had numerous problems with mine.
One day it only just shut off and I couldn't get it to start again for months. I called customer advocate and they did not help. I would turn it on and it would sound like it was going to start the power handle would light up for a minute and then it would shut off. Sometimes it would start but the monitor would not work. Now it only starts if I check down the Escape key after I hit the power button. If I close the laptop, it's hard weighty when and if it might start again. The USB ports only work on the left side of my laptop, after about a year the avenge side stopped working. It gets extremely hot, you really need to have a cooling fan underneath it. One of the hinges to the keep track of has over time broke, now if my laptop gets closed the monitor in fact comes apart.
Basically I am not impressed with the brand new model and would not over buying a refurbished model. I do however own an HP Netbook that I have not had any problems with.

Adding or Replacing a video card to an HP Pavilion DV9700Z notebook?
Q: I recently purchased a new notebook, HP Pavilion dv9700z, and was wondering if it is possible to add/replace the video card.
The current video card is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit). I have 2GB of RAM. If you need any further specs just ask.
A: I am sorry to say that replacing that card would cost as much as a new laptop. What you have at the moment is an IGP (intergrated graphics processor) this is where the GFX card is strapped to the motherboard and uses local RAM for its memory. Laptop cards are very very hard to find compatibilty correctness between them, so i would recommend that next time you go for a good GFX card in a laptop like a
8400GS, 8400GT, 8600GS, 8600GT or
HD2300, HD2400, HD2400XT, HD2600, HD2600XT. The higher the number the more advanced and powerful the Graphics.
So i am sorry but it is near impossible to change a UMA IGP into a discrete graphics card with its own memory.
