Why does my web cam inside of my hp pavilion dv2842se say that it is not connected? ?
Q: I went to hp.com and downloaded software for Cyberlink youcam because that is the program that is associated with my web cam but it says to execute the downloaded file and I don't know what that means. When I open up Cyberlink it tells me that there is no video device connected, please plug in a video device into your computer. Hopefully someone had the same problem and they can help me solve it.
A: It may be you wiped out the driver for the camera. First go to the System Recovery sub directory in the all programs (Start + All Programs + System Recovery + Application & Driver Recovery) follow the dricetions and restore the camera driver. See if the camera works.
Then you can install the CyberLink SW (sw = software).
As for the CyberLink statement for you to "execute the downloaded file" (program): It is an "old" way to say run the program. Find the program and double click it, it is a self launching and self extracting installation program, follow the instructions to install and use it.
