What do "a/b/g/n" and "b/g" stand for in computers?
Q: I am looking into getting a new laptop. I am comparing two models, one says "Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n " and the other says "Wireless 802.11b/g."
What do these things mean, what do they do, and which is better?
The models I am looking at are: HP Pavilion DV6751US and HP Pavilion dv9812us. Thank you.
A: They are different types of wireless connections. From slowest to fastest: A then B then G then N. You should get the one with all four, because depending on where you are using it, different places might have different types of wireless so you would be much more mobile with all four instead of just B and G.
