Mentally deficient, Not Well Designed Product
I have a Samsung NP-Q1u. This artifact is a piece of Crap. I have had over 30 computers and this product is the worst computing artefact that I have ever had. Samsung has knowingly released a defective product line. Don't waste your lettuce as I have done. I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE YOU FROM BUYING THIS PRODUCT BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE.
Samsung Q1 Q1U-SSDXP 7" Ultra Unstationary PC with 32 GB solid state hard drive
Samsung Q1 Q1U-SSDXP 7" Ultra Flexible PC with 32 GB solid state hard drive-
This unit is wonderful - a full view viewable screen and full XP functionality. But you should know its limitations.
The 32 GB urgently drive functions well. I don't know if the solid state drive contributes to the operational slowness discussed below. I think that the solid state drive is less susceptible to damage than would be a mechanical earnestly drive, which is available in a 60GB capacity in other models of this Samsung UMPC. But unlike a reflex hard drive, the solid state drive isn't subject to stalling if the item is used at high altitude. This makes it possible to use the UMPC "at increase" in an unpressurized aircraft.
I keep wishing that Samsung would deliver an upgraded model with a larger dynamic state hard drive. 32 GB is quite small, but this size can be doubled by keeping a 32 GB "SD card" in the provided SD card slot. Most (but not all) programs can be installed onto the SD possible rather than the computer's hard drive.
The Samsung-installed software gives the unit gain functionality.
The computer works well with mapping software using a supplemental GPS. And it displays Jeppesen aviation come near plates wonderfully, almost full size. MS Office works well. The built-in wireless and mooring internet connections function flawlessly.
But the computer does have drawbacks, the resources one being that it is horribly slow. It takes about 3 minutes for Windows XP to boot up, but once that is done the precipitateness is acceptable although a bit sluggish. It should be noted that I have a lot of programs in the start menu, which may ease up things down. The two programs that seem to contribute to the slow boot are McAfee surety and "Solid Capture" (which is a screen capture program).
Of course, the built-in record and keyboard are so small that creating a spreadsheet or document, or sending an email, is a bit of a work. But if you want a computer this small, this awkwardness should be acceptable, as it comes with the tiny immensity. A portable keyboard and mouse help a lot when on the road, and plugging the computer into a larger survey when not on the road provides a comfortable work environment.
The built-in camera produces insignificant quality images. In my opinion it is not really worth having. I've never set up the fingerprint acknowledgement software, which is a security device, as I didn't want to risk it malfunctioning at a parlous time. So I have no comment on this.
I use the computer to read books with Kindle-for-PC and with the Sony Enrol Reader. Unlike the Kindle and Sony hardware, the UMPC has a backlit supervisor. This is especially useful when reading in low-light environments. But although the UMPC is very jolly weight --for a computer-- it is heavy enough so that reading in bed while lying on your back is a bit tiresome until you figure out a way to rivet the computer that won't get your arms tired and won't push any of the computer's buttons!
The battery life is about what the fabricator claims, but only if you don't leave the monitor turned on full brightness.
Would I buy another Samsung Q1 Q1U-SSDXP 7" Ultra Movable PC with a solid state hard drive? Absolutely. But if I din't need the computer satisfactorily away, I would wait and hope that Samsung increases the size of the hard refer to and the processor speed!
I loved it!!
I covet to be clear that I am selling mine (currently) because I no longer need to be away from domestic for work reasons. I want to state that first so that there's no conflict of interest.
Personally, I found it remarkably handy. I was working full time and going to school for a Master's Slowly. The UMPC is light and it let me take notes for class directly on the handouts for domain. It was light enough that I could carry it every day and it can easily get on the net.
Here's a tip: if you keep the file size down, it will help the step on the gas a lot. I had a ton of massive files that I needed to work with and it still did the job fine for me, but it's not going to be as tied as a home computer.
Q1 Ultra Organizer
Unfriendly to the Samsung Web Site, this organizer will not fit all the Q1's, it is sized for the thinner Q1's ... The Q1UP-XP is way too thick for the holder!!! If you have a Q1 1" or thicker, I would urge that you wait until Samsung figures it out and produces one that will carry it!

Meh - could have been so much greater, but gets the job done
Brief conversation of warning - this organizer is really designed for the Q1 Ultra AND its Samsung keyboard. The unconditional case is designed around carrying both devices with you, and without the keyboard everything feels nice of out of place.
The quality is fine - everything snaps into place quite well, but I'm very recently not impressed with the usability of the case or how well you can carry the Q1ultra and the keyboard, once you crinkle it open, the combination becomes quite large and bulky, plus you have the USB line sticking out the side of the unit (A Bluetooth keyboard would have been so much smarter).
Other than this, you don't really have many options out there for your Q1 Ultra, so if you Lack a case, then this is what you'll end up buying.

Skilled case if you use the keyboard...
I use this anyhow with the Q1B ONLY when I am also using the USB keyboard. Without the keyboard attached, this case is not a good fit. With keyboard joined it is fabulous! it has a piece that goes between the keyboard and Q1 to keep them separated while the case is closed that also works well as a mouse pad when the keyboard is connected, but not in use (web browsing, gps, etc). It also has a sturdy, yet attractive, fold-out stand on the back that works well and holds the Q1 at a admissible viewing angle.
An choice case
Stars definitely do not apply as I did not purchase this case/cover, based on the generally under par reviews that have been submitted so far. I did try a DateRunner planner cover that worked well until the zipper bankrupt. Recently I purchased a CaseLogic GPS carrier that fits almost perfectly, have a racking cover, well, stiff anyway, has an interior half-pocket to slide the Ultra into, 3 slots for SD cards and spaces for some garnishing. Not made for the ultra but gives me the carrying protection I wanted without adding pithy size or weight as why buy the little Ultra then a backpack or full-size casket to carry. The Ultra Organizer here seems totally insufficient to me and I have no interest in gumming up my part with velcro strips to make something work that does not. I do not have a product army for this carrier but was sold as a GPS carrier, barcode inside shows 0-85854-14765 if that is of any use to anyone. Keyboard might fit in but I do not own one and have not tried it. Again, valid an alternative to the case offered by Samsung and that worked for me.

Wow! This should be sample on the Q1U!
Fully amazing. Although it took a bit of time to arrive because it was "backordered" - something I expect had to do with its rediculously low price - it was well worth the wait.
I use my Q1 as a "carputer" and long battery-operated life (rather than using another cable) is impirtant. The OEM battery that ships with the Q1U is all right as far as life goes but the extended battery is amazing. My Q1 can go for a good 6+ hours constant on "optomized" mode and after several months of use, is still going strong.
Look-alike My Power, Double My Fun
For now my taste with the Samsung Q1 6 Cell extended battery has been good. So far the battery seems to have more than doubled the stay alone operating time that I got from the original battery. Also, after leaving it unplugged from power for several era, I'm greeted with 3-4 hours of work time, according to it's internal calculations; compared to a less dead battery when using the original. This is after I store Q1 fully charged, of headway. The down side is that this new battery noticeably increases the weight of my Q1 ultra. After hand holding the Q1u for covet periods, my arm feels it. But, when I reach 10 reps of 10 - 40 yard curls again, the increased weight of the Q1 and extended battery will seem less than a feather.

Incomparable addition to the Q1
Brobdingnagian battery, good investment. It will last almost 5 hours!! depending on the applications game and screen brightness. Has a built in LED charge indicator, so you can see how much is left in the battery-operated without having to connect it. Beware that the battery does stick out a no bit compared to the original battery that comes with the Q1, but it is minimal and does not get in the way of the Q1 being stored in the ingenious sleeve or similar size case. I think this battery is a meet investment, you can run the unit almost all day between the original battery and this one without needing a charge. So you can cause the charger home if space is limited. March 2008

accomplished addition for the q1 ultra
works flagrant. due to its larger size, it doesnt slide in as easy. although its hardly advantage mentioning. 7 hours of power at typical usage (web browsing, etc). have not watched any pictures or any other intensive programs, yet, but i would suspect that it would handle very well. highly recommend.

Covet Battery Life
This unfolded life battery really works!!! Don't hesitate to procure this one!! Remember that it is for the Q1 UMPC, which is the newest model!! It even fits of laughter in the organizer with the extended battery added on (a little tight but works incomparable). Anyone with the Samsung Q1 needs this battery!
Forum - Samsung Q1 Ultra - Samsung Q1 Bricked by BIOS flash ...
Does anybody differentiate how to redeem from a bad bios race on the Q1? I was upsetting to upgrade to the 20MA bios and it froze. I understand it has a Phoenix bios from screenshots on the internet, so there's a BIOS retrieval system. You have to read e suggest a Danger turn for the better disk and boot with a Fn-B or Win-B, but there's no keyboard so how do I do this? Is there a staunch conglomeration of buttons?
