Do Not BuyMy Vaio is ONE year old. I invest AT LEAST 10 hours a week trying to keeping this POS with a pulse. The wireless funny man destined has gone out which means I have to have a USB connection. Thx guys...ur the best. I can not tell u how let down I am with Sony. I have other Sony products but b/c of this I will definitely reconsider. BTW Sony you can also give MS a high five for letting me down (you allowed them to respresent your spin-off).
I wanted to turtle-dove this Vaio,but it wouldn't let me. . .
I purchased this Vaio [...] in December 2007 for, neighbourhood of as I can remember, around $1000. In January 2009, one month out of warranty the vet developed vertical lines. Between January and early April there came to be a thorough of 23 such lines. I investigated an after market screen replacement [...]. A moment ago great. It came with Vista Ultimate which worked ok but I like XP better, even so. The OS had some glitches and would rearrange email sorts very often so I had to go in and reset them. But by and obese, aside from the screen, no major issues except for two days ago. I returned from a 5 day misstep and turned on the computer and it is now dead. I checked the power supply and it's fine so it's a incorrigible with something inside the computer. I'm hoping it's not a major $ event but as a Vaio I fear it will be. In addition to the earlier my major complaint with the computer is that it's too big. Technically, it's barely a laptop and has a huge shelter footprint and in addition, it's heavy. That's not a complaint, per se, more like a negative against option - I knew it was going to be big when I bought it. If it were not for the hardware problems noted herein, which securely are show-stoppers, I would be torn between a 3-star rating and a 4, but as it is, I would rate it a zero assumption the problems, if I could. I'm in the process of removing the primary hard-drive for depot into an external inclosure, hoping to regain access to my important details since this machine is busted - but I resent having to mess with all of this - I resent it alot. If it's too extravagant to fix I'm gonna junk it - but one thing for sure, I won't buy a Vaio ever again. Hope this commentary helps someone. Regards to all.
Fair product but customer service is atrocious
I extraordinarily like the design of this laptop. I have had several before and this is my favorite in design and function. They keyboard is ideal, screen a great size and clarity.
I didn't like that it didn't conclude with back up disks and I had to pay to get them. The jack comes loose a lot too.
The computer crashed on me about a year in, only would not work and they had to replace the hard drive.
The times I've had to deal with person service at Sony have been nightmares. That alone would deter me from buying another Sony product. They absolutely do not value their customers.
So it's categorically a wash on this one because I like the actual computer when it's working, but not Sony or customer service. If you don't have to go through them for your commitment work or technical support, then the computer is a good choice.
Stuff b merchandise BUY. add more ram and you'll spped things up dramatically.
i would indubitably recommend this vaio. i'fe never had a problem with it, and it's been about 2 years now and i know i've dropped it a time or two. my only peeve was vista-mutual. i wish they had stuck XP on there, but you'll have to deal with vista home premium. win 7 isn't far off.
Sony VAIO 17"
I friendship the big screen for movies and homework, it's a little hard to carry around so I bought a mini-computer, too. The problems caused by the value and size (need a large, stable space) and the fact that it heats up so without delay have begun to outweigh the fun of the large screen in most instances, but I still like it. The freestyle only lasts 30-45 minutes without plugging in if you are using Wi-Fi, big drawback.
