What do I need to get internet on my sony VAIO?
Q: Wireless router + sony VAIO = (does it equal a stable connection or do I need something else too)?
Ok. I am going to buy a Sony VAIO (VGN-CR240E/B ) from Best Buy and a wireless router. Do I need anything else to get an internet connection in my house? What wireless router should I get? Are there any wires, antennas, or anything else I need. This is my first laptop and I have no clue what I need, so be specific! Thanks! :)
I have a router for two of my dektop computers can I use that? It has two slots left. can I just buy some kind of antenna or adaptor that can go into those slots?
A: Is your current router a "Wireless" router? If so, then you are all set. You should, however, go into the configuration utility and set up the wireless portion of the router to be secure. Since all brands of routers are different, the steps to do this are different. But, just get the documentation out and follow the instructions. You will access the router using an interent browser. Very easy.
Now, if your current router is not a wireless router, then you would need to get one. I recomend Belkin. They come with a lifetime warranty.
