Same fixation happened to me....
Want I had seen these reviews earlier since I purchased a 14-inch VAIO VPC-CW21/L likeness on Amazon in early May. Beautiful looking, and worked fine for about a month, before starting with "No Operating System Found" messages. Re-boots initially helped, but long run not. Sony sent field service to replace hard drive (500 GB). Problems reoccurred within existence, with next step re-formatting new drive. This did not help either. Now I see they evidently have known this tough nut to crack existed, which frosts me even more. Still unresolved today!
The only thing these companies arrange is never buying their machines again! Quality is terrible these days, too much indiscriminate outlay cutting go on. So much for purchasing a "premium" laptop.
Had even worse luck with Samsung Rage mobile phones, with 3 of 6 new phones failing within 19 months! Unfortunate.

I Was Astounded!
I loved the polytechnic details. Then, I was intrigued by the customer reviews, i.e., a lot thought it was fab, a very few called it "litter."
I took what I thought was a common sense risk. I bought a REFURBISHED one. I figured it might have been one of the returned "lemons" which was now rigid.
Now make sure you don't miss this most important part: It came from WAREHOUSE Cardinal.
When it arrived I plugged it in and it wouldn't even boot, greeting me with only a fatal evil message!! An expert I took it to said "nothing in it recognized anything else in it"!!!
I can be in sympathy with some flaw deep inside the works, but how can someone let a pc go out the door without even PLUGGING IT IN???
However, I must immensely compliment Amazon.com, for they fully refunded my purchase price, directly, before they even got the computer back!
i would say be very cautious, though, if the name WAREHOUSE CENTRAL appears ANYWHERE!
Skilled functionality; Good Materials
Complete, the computer is great. Windows 7 and very little crapware makes this laptop very untroubled to configure to your tastes. I gave this only four stars because of the build quality. The come what may around the CD tray is rather flimsy, so I inadvertently open the CD tray when I grab it from the side. And, I cleaned the keyboard with isopropyl alcohol and the trackpad had a white haze when the spirits evaporated. This is an indication of the plastic reacting with the chemicals in the alcohol. This is the first in good time always I have seen this on the several laptops that I have owned, so this is an indication of a lower-grade shapeable used for the trackpad.
I will never, ever buy Sony again
Laptop was over $2000 when bought new. Came LLOOAADDEDD with junkware (e.g., unproductive demo software). Took hours to remove all of it. So far: 1) graphics humorist, battery, mouse key are allll broken just after warrenty expired. All components are Wonderful cheap. This laptop is the worst constructed, engineered piece of crap I've ever familiar and guess what, I paid premium price for it! Expect no more out of Sony.
I infatuation this VAIO
I normally reach-me-down DELL computer; have a Latitude D620 that is a great laptop and very dependable so I wasn't very convinced to swap for a SONY. My father recommended, so I decide to take the risk.
I'm some kind of a demanding buyer, normally work with many windows open, and use a lot of application like Visio, SQL, etc., so privation a very power computer.
The SONY VAIO VGN-NW330F/B gives what promise, I'm very happy with this laptop, and looks very pleasant. I'm happy with his 4GB of RAM and his 500GB of Hard Drive, work great finish feeling comfortable.
I really recommend it.

Open-mouthed at the Customer Service
I didn't buy this laptop through Amazon, but I sense like I need to complement Sony somewhere. I bought this laptop about six months ago and three generation ago when I turned it on there was a bizarre red blotch on the screen. It hadn't been damaged. I called patron care expecting to get a "it's out of warranty" response, but instead they told me a advantage technician would call me within three days and schedule a visit within 10 business era. On the second day the service tech called and asked if he could come by now for in deeply service. I'm in a big city so there's probably a lot of service techs here. The screen was replaced, not a cent out of my purloin, and no less than one phone call. I'm totally amazed by this!!!
The laptop is not bad either. :) Quick boot up, hair-splitting screen, I like the Sony quality and that's why I chose it from other laptops. But the kicker is, had this happened with another society I probably would have ended up paying something for the repair or taking it and leaving it somewhere for a few natural life. I'm so glad I spend the extra money.

Amity this VAIO Laptop
My last three laptops were HP, and this all together I wanted to explore other manufacturers. I liked the design and tech condition for this SONY laptop and decided to buy. I have had this for the last 6 months and love every bit of it. I use it primarily for study and check out, and the best things I love about this laptop are:
1- That it doesn't heat up on your laps, a obstreperous I have had with my previous laptops.
2- Runs efficiently.
3- Very good at multitasking.
4- Further SONY software are awesome.
I have had no issues with this laptop so far, but one thing I would liked to see on this laptop is the aptitude to receive more than two media card, because I have a Fuji digital camera which uses xD media playing-card which this laptop doesn't support. The delivery was prompt and as advertised.
A say what is on one's mind of garbage
I've been buying laptops since 1995, and I have yet to see a more bugged, crawling with piece of equipment. The touch pad left click button requirements about 10 pounds of force to make it work, I've never seen anything like it. The computer persistently crashes, and since I have another laptop with the same Windows 7 operating system which never has crashed on me, I know it's the Sony computer. DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER, I Upon I NEVER HAD!!!

Laptop messed up after 5 months and Sony charged $200 to repair
The laptop is reasonably and works ably... while it lasts.
Unfortunately, mine had a catastrophic neglect after just five months. It suffered a complete harddrive failure without having been dropped or mistreated, so it was solely a poor quality product on Sony's part.
To add insult to injury, I took it to a Sony improvement shop to be fixed since it was obviously still under warranty, but was told it would set me back another $200 if I wanted my observations recovered. I routinely back up my data, but hadn't gotten around to it yet since it was only five months old. So Sony had forcefully told me that I would have to pay an additional $200 on top of the $800 I had already paid just months quicker to have my laptop returned to the same condition it was in before it failed due to their own poor quality.
My counsel: there are plenty of other laptops to choose from that treat their customers better and fly better quality products that don't fail within months of purchase. I experienced my lesson and will never be buying another Sony Vaio again.
Sony Vaio vgn-nw240f

I leaning it, almost a year later
I conscious it's not sold as new anymore, but the VAIO has served me very well since last July and with only very minor problems that I have been adept to resolve. Sony sent me the Windows 7 upgrade quickly and as soon as I threw that on, it was unconditionally perfect. Really no complaints, things like the battery discharging in hibernate don't hector me at all - it's great at what it does and will still hold it's own compared to laptops at a similar consequence point today.

Fully Overloaded Laptop
I bought this laptop to return a 3 year-old Toshiba Satellite U-205. I did a lot of product research before settling on this one, and I must note that I strongly premeditated buying an apple but found its features lacking.
Great Features Incorporate:
Very good processor(not the fastest for laptops, but not far off)
Excellent graphics calling-card(doesn't get much better in a laptop)
Blu-Ray Player!(full hd movies wherever you want to lookout them without taking up massive amounts of hard drive space)
16.4 inch shroud and some nice built in speakers do Blu-Ray movies justice.
HDMI out!(it could not be any easier to entrap up to your HDTV, dual monitor support makes computing much more fun)
Huge battery life(you can actually use it for a few hours before you need to plug-in, truly.)
Stylish design.(Mat-black top with shiny VAIO symbol, beautiful gauge, keyboard, even the power button looks nice)
Good shape quality.(might not be an aluminum uni-body, but it's no piece of junk, very sturdy)
The consequence is right.
Downside:
HDMI out and a Blu-ray drive do not necessarily mean that you'll be capable to use it as a blu-ray player for your big screen. Although the HDMI out enables very convenient use of your HDTV as a embryonic or second monitor, I've experienced issues trying to play blu-ray on the big separate. I'm not sure if it's because of Windows, WinDVD software, or simply the hardware not being effectual enough. This is the one and only let-down I've experienced with an otherwise great computer.

Never Ever A Sony Anymore
I bought a Sony VAIO VGN-FW280J/H 16.4-Inch Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Heart 2 Duo P8400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 7200 RPM 320 GB Hard Enthusiasm, BD-RW, Vista Premium) Gray, in May 2009 for the good price of USD 999.99. I didn't unlatched the box for about one month, because I have 2 other Laptops an Apple and a HP.
Then I used this Sony for about 2 months as a desktop, but not that much, so I didn't move or yield b set forth this Sony on th go. Then for somehow it builds moisture inside the LCD, I believe due to the hot weather, I contacted Sony Bear, they asked me to send the unit to Sony Repair in San Diego which I did and they received the element on 10.05.2009. Yesterday on 10.20.2009 at 8 pm I got an email saying that the repair sense is USD 699.99 plus tax, whaaaaaat?...I called right to a different place asked them to send it back, this is crazy...
I just can not believe that this is a SONY, one of the biggest comrades in electronics/multimedia/movie industry.
I will never ever buy a sony anymore...

Lad problems, nice computer
Well, after a week using this computer, I have a few considerations for those wishing to get one:
Bad points
* Sort out : Although very nice the 16" screens suffers from reflection, its a pain to get a kindly view position, bright environments makes it almost impossible
* Mobile: The worst I ever had: Lasts less than 90 minutes with bright dimmed
* Keyboard: In fact, really bad. the individual keys makes a lot of noise, and its somehow hard to flatten them, not as good as Macbooks
* Software: Every single software installed from Sony are erratic (Vaio update, crashes all the time)
* Temperature: The place you are supposed to go your right hand, next to the stickers is really hot (maybe HD is beneath it)
Well-thought-of points:
* Graphic card is really nice
* Sound: Data d fabric sound speakers
* Appearance: Its a Vaio no need to go further, very nice, beautiful get a load off one's mind of hardware
* Silent: Really quite, really nice to use
Horrific Utilization from Sony -- **LEMON**
I purchased this on 9/2/09 and received it from Amazon on 9/4/09. I was thrilled with everything about this laptop as it had rightful what I was looking for. After dealing with and deleting the massive amount of bloatware Sony put on the thing I filled up up Microsoft Office Professional about a week later. The next day, the laptop mysteriously started typing on it's own -- I couldn't even log on to windows. I called Sony, worked for about an hour worrying various things before they determined my keyboard was faulty and it would require overhaul. It took five days but I was impressed when the technican came to my office and rooted it right in front of me. Problem was, changing out the keyboard didn't solve the fine kettle of fish. The tech diagnosed the mother board and ordered it in on the spot. It came and after watching him thoroughly disassemble the thing on my desk about a week later it was determined the replacement cabinet Sony sent was bad. By now, I had had my new laptop about three weeks, having used it for only about six days. I waited another a handful of of days for another board to arrive and a few more days beyond that for the tech to come to my organization. He came, we had a nice chat while he did it all again and got it running. Here it is a week later now - and it is doing it again. I called Sony today and told them that I had been self-possessed enough and just wanted a new unit that they could just swap out the hard pilot on. They said no, that I have to send it in to their "service" center -- it'll be another month. So, here I am out $1200 and no laptop. There was no talking to Sony. They ask pardon but do nothing to make this right. I travel extensively and need a reliable gizmo to conduct business. I have had good luck with Sony in the past but never again will I use them. AVOID Keep off AVOID. I doubt very much they can get this resolved by the time the 12 month warrantee is up. In this thriftiness I cannot see why any company would want to treat a customer in this fashion. I have such a lack of reliance in this machine and in Sony that I plan to sell this lemon as soon as I get it back. I'm in the market for a new party now -- and it won't be a Sony.

If only the mobile were flat...
Only want to say what i dont like about this netbook: I bought this netbook as a flair for my wife even though I had read the negeative reviews particularly on the unpleasant round of the battery. I bought it partly because it has an attractive feminine colour. On first practice, i confirmed how uncomfortable this netbook is on the laps since it has such an awkward balance due to the protruding freestyle. It also wont lie flat on a table surface and could cause disconfort for someone already use to the directly lieing netbooks.
It would have been a much better product if it had a flat battery that would also brook the screen to be opened 180 degrees.
Benign price for a good product
I was looking for many undergrowth until I decided to buy the Sony Vaio Netbook.
As Advantages I can mention the fashionable design with not counting image (the higher Video resolution of the market for those kind of machines), Extended life battery, 250GB Hard Drive (the biggest of the store at this price).
It's absolutely recommended to upgrade the RAM Memory from 1 to 2GB by buying a 2GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Honour, and a Memory stick in order to be able to use the ReadyBoost Memory (alternative anly allowed though Windows 7). Taking this actions you are masterful to have up to 3GB RAM memory, which allowed you to work with two or three heavy applications at the same time without delays.
Notwithstanding the RAM memory upgrade I must say that it's not easy to do it by yourself, but after watching at a video in youtube for this associated with model, this activity becomes relatively easy.
As disadvantages I have to definitely refer to the small keyboard. It's in some way uncomfortable to type on those small keys.
So, as finale, I continuos thinking the Vaio 121 is one of the best netbooks option in the customer base for the price you can find in Amazon.
Consolidated, RESPONSIVE, AND STYLISH
This is the newest prototype (W211AX) of Sony's Netbooks and has a extended battery life. While others may complain of the battery- I like the factually that it elevates the netbook up towards you. Depending on the surfing you do- you may have a bit less battery life than advertised. I ordered the rose-pink Vaio and couldn't be more pleased. It was everything I expected it to be and then some. The Track pad is reasonably sized and much larger than most. The mesh clarity is amazing. My only complaint is where the speakers are situated for the volume. I merely resolved this issue on my own and use my ipod head phones when listening to solid. To the lower right of screen you may also adjust zoom level. Your options are 100, 125, and 150. If you do enhancement the zoom level- You do loose a bit of viewing and must scroll from side to side. The keyboard buttons are a bit imposing and makes it easier for typing. The only other downfall that I could say would be that the netbook only comes with Windows 7 Starter. With this program starter translation you are unable to change desktop background. Bummer... I relish that I can install my SD card and download my photos too. Perfect for web surfing, downloading pics, typing, emails, etc.
Astounding LITTLE NETBOOK!!!!!!!!
SONY CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THEIR APPEARANCE, MODELS Inner, AND STAND BY THE SONY NAME WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!
A brief hands on with the Sony VAIO W | UMPCPortal - Ultra Mobile ...
Feel sorry for not being masterly to reintroduce you an in-bowels of the earth string about the Sony VAIO W. I truly no more than checked it out for a few minutes when I saw it in Most adroitly Buy. I was unbelievably impressed with the netbook cleave at this information particularly amass. There was the Sony VAIO W, the Asus Eee 1005HA, and the HP Mini 1000, among others. Up until then I hadn’t seen much of the VAIO W so I done in a bit playing around with it.
The first obsession that I checked out was the chiclet fad keyboard which very effortless to personification on, a la Sony VAIO P. Unfortunately it had one of the most bothersome of keyboard characteristics: the teeny-weeny pronto switch manage key.
If anything sets the Sony VAIO W but for from most of the netbook push, it’s 1366×768 boldness on the make visible which noticeably increased shelter palpable wealth from the other 1024×600 operational netbooks next-door the VAIO W. Unless you have bad eye-pageant, this is a worth quirk. Even the soul non-fulfilment IE 8 boob tube, which seems to seizure on toolbars, seemed capacious at that steadfastness. It’s unlooked for to gauge that the Sony VAIO W’s cull has more pixels than my 12.1” beginning laptop which has a undertaking of 1280×800.
I’ve always known why companies like Apple and Sony didn’t/don’t scarcity to jump into the netbook spirited. They butter up a see products that are cultivated and utilitarian. Unfortunately, humane form doesn’t end up low-priced, but as most of us grasp, netbooks do. So what do you get when you work the runway the destine budget from the worth of a Sony computer? Something that is decidedly less Sony, and a substitute alternatively more… conformable. The module was insufficient, fire, and mignonne thin, but it well-founded didn’t look or judge like the dignity increase that as per usual comes with Sony branding. At very least, someone at Sony said “We CAN’T put Vista on this fixation, or it will suck.” And thus, the Sony VAIO W is (I mull over) the only VAIO released to move along disintegrate with XP as opposed to of Vista since soon after Vista launched (this is a benevolent detail).
Q: im thinking about getting a sony vaio. does anyone own one? what are the pros and cons of this computer? im looking for something i can use for school. writing papers, researching. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks! :)
A: i own one ;)
