This laptop is HOT, physically! No longer a Toshiba purchaser.This is the other Toshiba laptop I have owned. The first was a Toshiba Satelite. The Qosmio I bought as a gift for myself after completing a seven month deployment in Iraq. I expected this to be an stirring gaming machine with good performance at a low price. Also, since my first Toshiba survived the deployment in a Pelican For fear that b if, I would go ahead and stay loyal to Toshiba. This laptop is a waste of money. The keyboard is intended sub-par and is very frusturating when I am typing on internet explorer, and the page goes back mysteriously. Also, it is poorly ventilated and indisputably overheats then shuts off. I even bought a cooling fan to help vent, and it still irregularly overheats. Overall, this machine has shut off about 150 times in the last year. Also, I cannot about b dally Crysis because it freezes during videos. Battlefield BC2 doesn't work either because it freezes when loading levels in both multiplayer and compete. Even Modern Warfare 2 was having some difficulties, and it froze three times in a row during action mode. I had to shut off the system and reboot each time. After hours of troubleshooting, updating drivers, and such, My finish is that the hardware was designed poorly. So when I get out of the Marine Corps next year and procurement a laptop for college, it will not be a Toshiba.

A quad-heart CPU and middling graphics
Normally, aesthetics are a derived part of a notebook review, but Toshiba forces the issue with the Qosmio X305's wild delineation. Seriously, the lid's audacious three-tone, metallic-red paint job alone is enough to challenge the interest of a latent buyer, but the X305 also sports an unusual formfactor involving curves and lips that add to both the automobile's footprint and height. And like the majority of notebooks in its class, the 17-inch X305 is burdensome--although, with a carry weight of approximately 11 and a half pounds, it's still more than a maul lighter than the CyberPower Extreme M1 we reviewed last month.
Of course, there's more to the Toshiba X305 than its mortal spectacle. The machine has the distinction of housing a 2GHz Core 2 Quad Quick Q9000 processor, making it only the second quad notebook we've reviewed--the first was Lenovo's Drop-kick Ass ThinkPad W700. Those two extra cores gave the X305 a bracing advantage over its higher-clocked, dual-core competitors in our claim benchmarks. In Premiere Pro CS3, ProShow Producer, and MainConcept Reference, which are all heavily multithreaded, the X305 surpassed all the dual-pit rigs we've reviewed over the last several months--including the 2.8GHz HP HDX 18 we reviewed in January--by greater than 50 percent, in most cases. Interestingly, it also scored much better than those machines in Photoshop, which isn't heavily multithreaded. We trait it more to the X305's hard drive configuration: a speedy Toshiba 64GB SSD is dedicated to the OS, while applications annul to a virtually empty 320GB HDD.
With its crazy bright-red coloring and curvaceous style, the X305 will likely repel conservative types.
In gaming, the X305 is not as evocative. The machine had no problem pummeling our GeForce Go 8600M-equipped zero-show rig in the game benchmarks, but it was no match for the dual ATI Radeon HD 3870 cards in last month's CyberPower Far-off M1. The X305 suffered a 12 percent loss against that rig in Quake 4 and more gruelling losses of 52 percent and 41 percent in UT3 and Crysis, mutatis mutandis. The X305 also fared worse than old-fave Gateway P-7811 FX, with its GeForce 9800M GTS; the X305's 9800M GTX runs 100MHz slower (500MHz vs. 600MHz), making for a six percent disservice in Quake 4 and a 26 percent loss in UT3. The X305 managed a 10 percent win against the Gateway in Crysis, thanks to its shader-marrow advantage (112 vs. 64), but it's a bittersweet victory as neither rig is capable of playable support rates in that game at high settings, even at 1024x768 undertaking.
Toshiba positions the Qosmio as a multi-purpose entertainment machine. To that end, the X305 sports documentation audio capabilities--the 4.1 Harman/Kardon speakers get masses loud and maintain good midrange. The glossy surface on the 17-inch hide adds vibrancy to both movies and games. (Interestingly, the screen's best resolution is 1680x1050, while most other notebooks of this size are 1920x1200.) An HDMI mooring lets you connect to a high-def display. Plus, the X305 offers three USB ports (one of which doubles as eSATA), a 5-in-1media reader, and an ExpressCard assignment, along with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
While the X305's application effectuation is certainly commendable, its outrageous looks, lackluster gaming presentation, and paltry battery life (one hour, eight minutes on power-compensating mode) should consider its cons before making a purchase.

It is a gaming PC alright
It is true-blue that if you are looking for a slim light weight computer the Toshiba Qosmio X305 is probably not the most successfully notebook, it is a little big and heavy but it compensates on processing power, cacophony and video card. I just installed the latest games and they run smoothly, the deep plumb has a nice bass from the subwoofer and applications open really soundly. I would recommend it as a powerful machine. Amazon delivered on time and very belongings shape.

deal or not cause it wouldn't finish booting. Could have happened in shipping. No damage/ no foul..
