Why does my Toshiba turn back on three minutes after I shut down?!?
Q: I just got my brand new Toshiba Satellite P305-S8842 shipping from Circuit City and used Windows Vista for the first time in my life (I used a desktop for a couple years with Windows XP).
I have a couple of questions for you Vista people.
-Is it normal to see color glitches every once in a while? Sometimes after using the camera, I see a thick line of green brown on the top of the screen or a blocky line of color surrounding the top of a window.
-After I click on the shut down button, the laptop goes through the normal shut down process but turns on in only three minutes if I dont unplug the charger. My old Toshiba never had a problem shutting down. This is really pissing me off. What should I do?
I've had these problems since I first started up the laptop. I really hope there's a way to fix these issues.
A: Well, I Don't Own A Laptop. However, It Could Be That Your Computer Is Actually Sleeping Rather Than Shutting Down. I Understand You May Be Telling It To Shut Down But The Power Plan May Be Doing Sleep Instead.
Regarding The Blotchy Colors, No, It Is Not Normal For Vista. If You Have A Decent Video Card Or On Board Controller, You Should Rarely, Really Rarely See Display Hiccups.
Since The Computer Is New And Under Warranty, You Should Take It Back And Demonstrate The Problems You're Having. You Should Not Let Them Explain Away The Video Problems As Normal. That Should Be Fixed And Not By Buying Some Fancy Card To Do So. They Should Also Explain Or Fix The Problem With Computer Not Shutting Down Like You Expect. Since This May Be An Operating System Issue You Might Be Told That You Need To Call Toshiba. It Depends On Whether Or Not This Is A Simple Configuration Setting Or Something Else.
